Pietro and Jackie Tomassi October Family of the Month |
Jackie and Pietro revied the Family of the Month Award for October.
They will be married 32 years on February 2, 2023, having moved here from Miami where they were very active in their parish. From 2003 until COVID hit, they were active members of Saint Mary's of the Springs in Hot Springs. In Jan of 2021 Pietro and Jackie joined the HSV Sacred Heart Parish. The initial draw was the parking lot mass. Then, as they say, they were hooked.
Pietro moved his KoC membership to Sacred Heart approximately four years ago and is a very proud and committed KoC 4th Degree Knight Assembly Member.
Almost immediately they joined the choir. Pietro is a member of the Social Justice Committee at Sacred Heart. Jackie is a LOSH member and looks forward to becoming more involved. Jackie has volunteered as a lector and looks forward to that in the future. Jackie has assisted in editing the upcoming Game, Set, Match Murder Dinner Mystery. Both Pietro and Jackie are part of the KoC Kitchen Crew. Pietro and Jackie have been Kairos Prison Ministry volunteers since 2007. Pietro is a member of the Kairos ORU Advisory Counsel.
They remain active members of the Saint Mary's & Saint John's Haiti Mission committee (which provides financial and spiritual support to the Colladere St. Andrew Catholic Parrish, their two remote missions churches and schools) both have traveled there several times since 2007. Every summer they have hosted a priest from Haiti for a month.
St. Teresa Movie Attendees |
The Daniel P. Sullivan Council 10208 rented the entire theater in Benton, AR. To provide an opportunity for all the Knights and their guests for a private showing of the St. Teresa Movie.
There were over 170 Knights and their guests that attended the 11:00 AM showing on October 3rd.
This movie was filmed on five continents and features unprecedented access to both institutional archives and the apostolates of the Missionaries of Charity, this film is a breathtaking visual tour de force. From ministry to the homeless of the South Bronx to the critical aid for Venezuelan refugees along the border of Brazil; from outreach to the poor of the far-flung reaches of the Amazonian jungle to caring for disabled children in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya; from the loving care provided to the drug addicts on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro to the ongoing work of the Missionaries of Charity for the sick and dying in Kolkata. This extraordinary film reveals not just who Mother Teresa was, but how her singular vision to serve Christ in the poor continues to be realized through the Missionaries of Charity today. This is far more than a documentary film. It is at once a soaring tribute to a spiritual icon, a powerful witness of authentic Christian charity, and a guidepost for all who seek hope in our turbulent times.
What a great council this is to provide our Brother Knights with this unique opportunity.
