Placement of the Roses
On Thursday, November 9th the Knights of Columbus, Council 10208, sponsored the Silver Rose program to honor Our Lady of Guadalupe. The devotion is part of the KofC Silver Rose program and honors Our Lady as the patroness of the Americas and affirms the sanctity of all human life. Knights carry the Silver Rose from city to city, district to district, and council to council from Canada to the Basilica in Mexico City. The Silver Rose will arrive in Mexico City on the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The rose symbolizes one of the roses that fell from the cloak of Saint Juan Diego when he delivered the Virgin's message to his Bishop on December 12, 1531.Celebrating the Silver Rose Mass
The Silver Rose Prayer Service included a Rosary, Mass, and additional Prayers. The three Honor Guards were Bill Patterson, Francisco Gutierrez and Gary Wolfer along with eight Ladies of the Parish whom escorted and posted the Rose at the front of the alter. Fr. Bill celebrated the special mass.

Past GK Rick Phillips accepting Council 10208, 2022-2023 Star Council Award from State District Deputy Murray Claassen |
The Star Council Award recognizes outstanding achievement in membership, insurance and programming. In order to achieve the Star Council Award, a council must earn the Father McGivney, Founders', and Columbian Awards. Additionally, the council must submit both the Annual Survey of Fraternal Activity (#1728) and Service Program Personnel Report (#365). In the United States and Canada councils must also be fully compliant with applicable safe environment requirements.
Council 10208 is so fortunate to have the leadership and members that it takes to consistently earn the Star Council Award year after year. It is not something that is easily done and without the leadership we have, it would not be possible.

Taste of Faith 2023 Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Hot Springs Village, AR
Hall was packed with 220 attendees |
On Friday evening, July 28th, 2023, Sacred Heart Parish in Hot Springs Village held its annual "Taste of Faith" seminarian fundraiser. The pastor, Father Bill Elser, and more than 200 parishioners hosted Bishop Anthony Taylor, Vocations Director Father Jeff Hebert, Deacon Chuck Ashburn and fifteen seminarians. Father Joseph de Orbegozo and Father Ravi Gudipalli also attended.
Father Hebert reported on the status of vocational recruitment in the Diocese of Little Rock, then introduced each of the seminarians in attendance. Seminarian Joel Brackett spoke about his vocation and Father de Orbegozo gave some reflections on his first five years as a priest.
Since July 28th was the anniversary of the martyrdom of Blessed Stanley Rother in Guatemala in 1981, Bishop Taylor made a presentation on Father Rother's history as a priest and a missionary to the Central American country. The Bishop was the first episcopal delegate for his canonization.
The event was sponsored by Knights of Columbus Council 10208. A delicious meal was served by
Chef Johnna Westerman and music was provided by Larry Womack.
This gala event raised over $55,000 for seminarian education and formation.
