Congratulations to our August 2022 Knight of the Month Chris Mullaney.
August 2022 Knight of the Month Chris Mullaney |
Pictured above is Rick Phillips presenting the Knight of the Month Award to Chris with his Wife Donna
Chris has only been with us since April and since then he has been very active in helping with the Kitchen Crew and volunteering for various activities.
He and his wife Donna moved here 7 months ago from Albuquerque. Every morning when they wake and open the blinds and see the beautiful green and trees they pray "thank you, God, can't believe it!" or something to that effect.
They love the Village, the people, locals and transplants, their neighbors, their hood, Arkansas, and Church (the people, the Pastor, the building, and the big Crucifix).
They have been enjoying getting in better shape physically at the excellent Coronado Fitness Center and the hiking trails and exploring this beautiful "Natural State".
And quoting Chris "I have just been doing KP with the Knights and really like it. You could make a TV show or podcast with what I see and experience in the kitchen. Big dogs, like Rich and Rick(s) and Murray and Tom get in there and get dirty and get cooking. I have met Knights who have run big regional distribution centers, executives, Sailors, Soldiers, Marines, Knights with decades of experience, leaders of their companies and communities, small business owners, native Arkansans, Dads, Grandads, Priest, bikers, jocks, techies, on and on. And I meet these Knights in the kitchen dough-dish and the dirty dish pan- sweating, working hard, slinging, flipping, chopping, having fun, laughing, ribbing, getting stuff done for a good cause, joking, making great tasting meals with presentation. And in the midst of the splattering food prep and cooking and cleaning, a discussion about Saint Paul, or Jesus and his friends, or favorite Saints, or what it means to be a Christian and Catholic erupts and people join in. And I see our Church people diners enjoying a good meal, SMILING, and having fellowship and care and church family at the tables. Is that Biblical or what?! Pretty cool. And pretty cool being a part of KofC KP.
For all of his help and jumping right in, he has earned the well-deserved Award for Knight of the Month!!

Tom Donnelly Knight of the Month for July 2022 |
During the past 40 days, he assisted with the Olympic Village in Searcy on 13 and 14 May. On the following Sunday, he was the presiding officer of a Charity, Unity, and Fraternity Exemplification at St. Mary's Church in Hot Springs; our Council's Team did an outstanding ceremony in an unfamiliar venue. This Knight participated in our Memorial Day activities—flags, Patriotic Rosary, and Mass; and he was a member of an Honor Guard for one of our Sir Knights funerals last month. On flag day he helped set out flags and led a decade of the Patriotic Rosary. He assisted with Junior Golf on Thursdays twice in June.
He recruited two new Knights during the month, bringing our Fraternal Year to the number qualifying the Council for the Supreme Star Award.
He ordered, bought, delivered, arranged for, recruited a crew, and supervised the meal for our June Council Meeting, raising over $900 revenue that compensated for meal-cost losses over the last year—putting Council meals for the year back into the "black."
This Knight continued as the Coordinator for the Parish Perpetual Adoration Program, completing 4 years in this capacity. He also has been our Council's Third Trustee and Program Director throughout the past Fraternal Year.
When a parishioner widow lost her air conditioner during the recent heat wave, he contacted a heat and air outfit, helped her select, buy, and arranged for the installation of the unit, and was there to supervise and assist her.
He took a veteran Sir Knight to North Little Rock for a VA appointment, waited with, and returned him home—a four-hour commitment.
Tom Donnelly is our July Knight of the Month.

There were 39 amazing volunteers that took their time to support this worthy cause. Despite having fewer athletes and 90-degree temperatures the spirit was high among this wonderful group of people. The Special Olympics kids were greeted with smiles, cheers, and even line dancing. Father Patrick Bowland said Mass on Thursday Evening and led a special prayer session on Friday morning. Donation checks from the KofC State Council were presented to Special Olympics Arkansas CEO Terri Weir at the group dinner on Thursday evening.
Thanks to the experience and energy of the volunteers, the event ran smoothly from the set-up on Wednesday, to working the crafts and games on Thursday and Friday to the take-down on Friday afternoon.

Yes … there was a Murder Mystery in the Village Friday and Saturday night, April 22nd and 23rd. The venue was filled with laughs and intrigue. Over 300 guests were entertained by the SHJ thespian players.
The lower hall of the church was transformed, complete with palm trees, grass skirts and Hawaiian music, into the Pineapple Haven Hotel. The evening included: Hula Dancers, Mystery Theater, a Hawaiian Luau Themed Dinner, Homemade Ice Cream and a “Whodunit” contest. Two “Best Hawaiian Attire” gift certificates were awarded.
The guests were entertained with home-grown talent which left everyone in the best of spirits. The Knight of Columbus, Council 10208 joined efforts with the Ladies of Sacred Heart (LOSH) to make this special evening a real success for their many local charities.
