WOW! What a fantastic 3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament everyone enjoyed on Saturday, August 27th, at the DeGray Lake Resort golf course.
Thank you one and all, our sponsors, volunteers, parishioners, friends, golfers and Knights for making this year’s tournament a tremendous success! Twenty-four (24) teams consisting of ninety-five players contributed to our success while competing for a host of prizes.
Sixteen (16) volunteers gave their Saturday to help with this golf tournament. Chuck Wagon Joe Giompoletti had plenty of knights helping him serve, not one, but two delicious meals at breakfast and lunch.
Also, a hearty THANK YOU to the Hot Springs Village Knights. Without their help and participation this successful event would not have been possible.
Our cash donations were $1,200.00, down slightly from 2010.
But we still netted $5,300 for St. John School.
The prize donations were way up from 2010. We had approximately $7,000 in prices to give away. Please remember all of our business sponsors, who made this tournament possible.
All 24 teams received prizes. Every golfer also received a $50 certificate which can be reimbursed at 100thingstobuy.com (I tried it, it really works). Special prices were awarded as follows:
o The best score for a priest in the tournament. Father Bill won this one. Father Bill almost won a bathhouse package, but the Worthy Chairman did not want to become an "ex Knight" so Father Bill was awarded a $45.00 gift certificate to the OutBack Restaurant.
o Best Lady's Team was awarded to the Stephanie Nehus’ team. All four winners will be pampered at the Quapaw Bathhouse.
o The tournament grand winners, with an unbelievable score of 56, were the Brian Gehrki Team, who also won the $100 in the skin game.
o Runner up with a score of 62 was Dan Murphy’s team from Hot Springs Village. Now, they MUST feel a little better after the shellacking we inflicted on them in the Knights Cup competition.
o The Flights were split at the score of 69. (12 teams were in Flight 1 and 12 teams were in Flight 2) The winning team in Flight 2 with a score of 69 was the team of Larry Martin; and, the runner up was the team of Rodney Myers from Little Rock also with a score of 69.
The Golf Course at DeGray State Park was perfect. The set up of the course was exceptionally good, and the help from the DeGray State Park staff was excellent.
Again to all, Thank You, Thank You very much!
