On August 14th the Knights of Columbus hosted the first spaghetti dinner in the Lower Hall since the onset of the coronavirus. Arkansas Department of Health guidelines were strictly followed; including temperature checks of all patrons, hand sanitizing stations, physical distancing and face coverings. Traffic control was managed efficiently with 95 carry out meals delivered to drive through patrons. An additional 65 meals were served to dine in patrons. Thank you to all of the Knights and spouses who volunteered to make this event a success!

The Civitan Club is an organization that focuses on helping people with developmental disabilities. In 2018 the Hot Springs Civitan Club approached Council 10208 with a unique opportunity to donate to the construction of a park designed for people with disabilities. A donation was made from our CPID collections in 2018 and 2019 to assist with this project. Photos of the completed project are below.

The first in-person meeting since Covid forced us into a lockdown back in the Spring was held on August 4th in the Lower Hall of the Church. Thanks to Brother Rick Darnell's technical expertise, it was also the first virtual meeting streamed for the Brother Knights that were not able to attend. There were approximately 20+ Knights that took advantage of this. Thank you Rick for your work and dedication to helping our Brother Knights.
After Fr. Bill's reflection on Saint Fr. John Vianney, Grand Knight Murray Claassen issued a personal challenge to all Knights to move out of their comfort zone and get more involved stating his own challenge was to visit a prison to share the Word of God.
GK Murray presented the Knight of the Month to Brother Knight Fr. Bill Elser.
A Special Longevity Award was given to Brother Knight Paul Schnoebelen being a Knight for 75 years beginning in 1945.
There were several Awards given out by State Deputy Director Andy Anderson, Tom Donnelly received an award in recognition of our Council’s successful “CPID” campaign.
Grand Knight Murray Claassen received a special award for the entire council for it’s unselfish service for the “Just Ask Campaign.”
Ed and Paula Doyle were awarded for the Family of the Year Award and special note this is the third year in a row our Council has received this Award.
There were two special guests recognized; the Grand Knight and Financial Secretary from Hot Springs Council 6419.
The meeting was closed out with the 50/50 Drawing of 35.00 each and Ted Ortero reading the Good of the Order.

Council 10208 was honored to Exemplify two new Knights of Columbus on Sunday, August 2nd, Chad O'Kane and Dave Sprecher. There were 44 Knights, wives, and guests in attendance at both the 10:00 a.m. Mass and the following ceremonial. The Arkansas Knights of Columbus State Secretary Lloyd Cambre, The District 10 Deputy, Brother Anderson of Hot Springs, , and the State Insurance Agent, Daniel Ellis, were welcomed guests. The Investing Officer was the Council Grand Knight, Murray Claassen. The Council Chaplain led us in prayer. This was the first ceremonial performed by our Council's newly formed Exemplification Team, and the first time an exemplification within our Council was open to all family and guests to attend. COVID-19 restrictions prevented the usual following reception, but our new brothers were introduced to all Councilmen that attended the subsequent August 4th General Business Meeting.

In addition to their classwork, seminarians
attend Mass daily, make a daily holy hour, receive spiritual direction and go regularly to the sacrament of Reconciliation. In prayer, they seek God's will for their lives and acquire the spiritual maturity they will need as seminarians and, God willing, priests of Jesus Christ.

In 2019 the Knights of Columbus sponsored Taste of Faith Dinner raised $30,000 to support the seminarians in our diocese. Unfortunately, the reality of COVID-19 health concerns forced the cancelation of the Taste of Faith Dinner in 2020. Over the next four weeks the Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a campaign to raise funds to support our seminarians. There will be bulletin articles, emails and possibly a “robo call” or two! Each weekly article will include a biography of one of our seminarians.
There are currently 27 seminarians in the Diocese of Little Rock. With the increases in cost and number of seminarians, the diocese needs our help to form our future priests. Msgr. Scott Friend recently said, “We just have to trust that the Lord will provide for us what we need. I know that the Lord will take care of us, our people will take care of us”.
