Council 10208 is proud to present our two newest Brother Knights; Joe Dunn and Mark Ryan.
Thanks to Ed Doyle for Sponsoring Mark and Reb Henry for sponsoring Joe.
Joe grew up in Dallas & New Orleans and moved with his family to Houston while in high school. He graduated from the University of Houston in 1970 with an accounting degree and was a corporate accountant. Making a career change in his early thirties and going to work with Merrill Lynch as a stock broker trainee and remaining in financial ervices. Marrying Gayle, his college sweetheart in 1970, and just last summer celebrating their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary. They have 4 children, 3 daughters, one son and 8 grandchildren.
Having only being in the Village a short time, they are impressed by the friendliness and good will they have received. They are very excited about finding their "little slice of Heaven".

Ken Silvers April Knight of the Month |
All of Ken's - Kitchen Crew have a great time working along with Ken. It doesn't take long after everyone is assigned a job and the hot food starts flyin' that Ken might break out in a song from Willy Nelson or Janice Joplin. Everyone is welcome to join in because the food is great and no one cares what we sound like. Just working with Ken and the Kitchen Crew is one of the best jobs in the Council.
Family of the Month - Mike and Annie Webster |
Annie, still works from home and hopefully will retire at the end of the year. She helps set up and tear down for the parking lot masses, she is an EM , and lector. She helped with the SC Covid days when we hosted. She also helps during Holy Week volunteering for anything Fr. Bill needs.
Mike is a 4th degree Knight, member of the Honor Guard, bartender for the Council, 1st VP for the Men's Club, ran the parking lot for the SC Covid shots, and also the past two Knights' Fish Fries. He is also in charge of the lectors and also EM. Set up for the parking lot and tear down. Volunteers for Mens Club Meals on Wheels and the Knights County Meals on Wheels, volunteer to set and take down the crosses of life in front of church and volunteer for Trash pick up for the Men's Club.
The Certificate of Merit is presented by the Council for only the most significant contributions. Over the past couple of months, we have observed a truly impactful accomplishment by one of our Brothers.
In late December, Bill Nosek heard that the Health Mart pharmacy would be coordinating the distribution of the COVID vaccine in the Village.
Bill contacted the owner and discussed their plan and suggested assistance from the Knights may be beneficial.
After consultation with the Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator, Bill was full speed ahead with integrating the support of the Knights of Columbus into the Health Mart Plan.
Bill’s vision was realized with Knights volunteering at several clinics (6-8) held at two churches in the Village.
He involved the District Deputy in one of those clinics, which led to the Knights in the Hot Springs council assisting with a clinic in Hot Springs.
Bill then wondered why we shouldn’t do a clinic here at Sacred Heart. With the support of Fr. Bill, the Sacred Heart clinic became a reality last Thursday, where 527 people received their first dose of the vaccine!
Thanks to Bill’s vision, initiative and COUNTLESS NUMBER OF PHONE CALLS the Knights have now assisted in the distribution of over 13,000 doses of the COVID vaccine to residents of the Village and surrounding area.
On behalf of the Brothers of Council 10208, the Certificate of Merit was presented to Bill Nosek.
Without Bill's foresight, the Knights would have not been involved in assisting with the distribution of the Vaccine nor would have Sacred Heart been a Vaccine Distribution clinic. God Bless you Bill for all you do for the Council and Sacred Heart Church.

If a Knight plans to attend the March For Life event, please contact Bob Bowman (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 501-922-6619).
The 43rd Annual March for Life will be held on Sunday, March 14, 2021, in Little Rock at 2:00 p.m. The observance is a peaceful and prayerful event that attracts thousands of Arkansans from across the state including churches and families to remember the estimated 60+ million unborn children who have been killed by legal abortion.
This event, sponsored by Arkansas Right to Life, will remember the 48th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion in the United States on January 22, 1973.
Staging begins at 1:30 p.m. between Battery and Wolfe Streets on West Capitol Avenue behind the Arkansas State Capitol. At 2:00 p.m. President Andy Mayberry will lead the marchers along with elected officials, invited dignitaries, and other special guests to the steps of the State Capitol for a brief program.
Arkansas Right to Life, the state’s oldest and largest pro-life organization, is an affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee, the leading voice of the voiceless dedicated to protecting all human beings threatened by abortion, infanticide, and euthanasia.

The Daniel Patrick Sullivan Council 10208 of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, and the Fr. Victor A. Bieberle Assembly 2316, while conducting their annual 9 Day Novena For Life, were blessed by the opportunity to put their faith and resources into charitable community action. The story of these efforts demonstrates how our Knights’ principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism can inspire an entire community with ecumenical cooperation and service doing Christ’s work.
A local independent pharmacist, Dr. Michael Butler, took exceptional personal initiative to purchase freezers capable of storing the Pfizer vaccine; he soon received the desperately needed vaccine. Using the resources of his several “Health Mart” pharmacies and medical supply businesses, his personnel vaccinated the locally designated Phase 1 front-line priority personnel, i.e., local nursing home residents, medical staff, police, teachers, firefighters, etc.
He realized that as the economy of the vaccination scale increased, a tremendous amount of administrative assistance for parking, traffic control, scheduling, registering, recording, record-keeping, processing, verification, insurance recording, et al., would require extreme planning, coordination, and community assistance.
Michael found a location with tremendous facilities to enable providing large scale community immunization—Balboa Baptist Church within the Village. When adequate amounts of vaccines were on hand, and as soon as the Governor authorized Phase 2 immunizations of 70 year and older citizens, the initiatives paid off. We were ready to meet the immunization challenges.
Forty-two Council 10208 Knights, including thirty Assembly 2316 Sir Knights, assisted in immunizing over 2,000 elderly residents on January 21st and 22nd—100 an hour for ten hours each day. In another week, the process will repeat for more residents. It seemed unique to some that the Council Chaplain and Assembly Faithful Friar, in roman tab-collar and Knight’s gear, was among the Knight volunteers pitching in at the Baptist facility.
These Knights and other volunteers will be there and assist with the second shots three weeks later. As increasing quantities of vaccine arrive, these Knights are committed to supporting the immunization effort for all residents within their Hot Springs Village—the largest gated community in the country. The staff and members of the Balboa Baptist Congregation did a tremendous amount of administrative work, provided their equipment and resources, and led the effort.

Second: Pre-registration forms are distributed, and Medicare cards copied and stapled to the shot forms. Third: Throughout the complex, guides help with “traffic control.” Fourth: There are multiple immunization stations where inoculations and vaccine records are issued, signed, and verified. Fifth: After receiving shots, a 15-minute “rest and wait” area allows observing shot recipients to assure their safety. Second appointment date/time/place cards are issued.

At the conclusion of the wait time, Knights collected all paperwork, ensured vaccination cards and appointment cards had been received, issued another registration questionnaire for the second shot, and answered any questions that arose. Knights also arranged golf-cart or wheel- chair assistance when needed.
