More than 80 knights attended the July 7 membership meeting, and they were treated to a great meal and two excellent speakers who feel very strongly about their life’s work and spoke to the knights directly from their hearts.

Council 10208 can take a great deal of pride in knowing that it supported Edward Pereira D'Almeida in pursuing his vocation, both monetarily and in prayer. Edward of Conway and James Melnick of Cabot will be ordained to the priesthood at 10:00 am Saturday, July 11, in the Cathedral of St Andrew in Little Rock. A reception will follow in MacDonald Hall.
Edward recently attended the Pontifical North American College in Rome. He will celebrate his first Mass at noon, July 12, in St Joseph Church in Conway.
On June 2 following the rosary,
social time, a dinner catered by Home Plate, and a short meeting, Council 10208 installed its officers for 2009-2010. Including the 14 officers and their spouses, there were 95 people in attendance. Ed Miller, a former Grand Knight and the new District 10 Deputy for the Arkansas Knights of Columbus, conducted the installation with the assistance of Gerald Krawczynski, who is serving his second term as Warden for the Arkansas Knights.2009_Officer_Installation.jpg
Preceding the installation of officers
at the June 2 meeting, Grand Knight Ron Boudreaux was pleased to announce that Ed Miller earned the Knight of the Year Award. GK Boudreaux commented about Ed not taking a break after completing his tenure as grand knight, but he played an integral part in the successes of both the Fall Fest and the Mardi Gras fundraisers. As a member of Sacred Heart’s Disaster Response Team (DRT), Ed serves on its steering committee as well as coordinating the work of the clean-up crews. Mary Ann and Ed were selected as Family of the Year for 2006-2007.Ed_Miller.JPG
As of May 28 the Sacred Heart of
Jesus Disaster Response Team had made ten trips to Mena, the scene of a tornado on Holy Thursday evening. Five case managers were involved in making three trips to help tornado victims become aware of appropriate assistance for their individual needs. There were 23 clean- up crew members (several volunteered four times) who made seven trips to help remove trees and debris from St. Agnes Church grounds as well as the properties of parishioners identified by Father Norbert Rappold and his staff. In providing these services, team members volunteered more than 400 hours and drove approximately 3,000 miles.Sacred_Heart___Mena__52109_049.jpg
