Wayne and Dee Kapple |
Wayne and Dee Kapple were chosen as Family of the Month for July for their work as case managers following the Mena tornado disaster. They have been married 53 years and moved to the Village from a northwest suburb of Chicago in 2002. Wayne joined Council 10208 in January, 2005, and soon thereafter became a 4th Degree member.
Wayne and Dee have been members of the Disaster Response Team since its inception, in which they serve as case managers. In that role they have made a total of eight 185-mile round trips to Mena, both to dispense information for Catholic Charities and more recently to resolve the cases of individual victims. To bring these cases to closure, they both attended meetings in Mena and also worked the cases by phone from their home.
Wayne is a member of the Men's Club, the Chantecleers, and the Cedar Mountain Singers. Dee is a member on the Ladies of the Sacred Heart, co-chair of her guild, and also sings with the Cedar Mountain Singers.
Congratulations, Wayne and Dee, and thanks for your dedicated community service to the residents of Mena as you represented not only Catholic Charities of Arkansas, but also Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Ron Boudreaux became a knight in March 1958, and he joined Council 10208 in December, 1998, more than forty years later. In this council he has held the office of Deputy Grand Knight, and he has very ably served as the Grand Knight during the just completed 2008-2009 fraternal year. It was a year in which the council once again earned Star Council status, thanks to Ron’s leadership and encouragement. He has already signed up to organize the Running of the Rose Program in September, 2009.
Ron is also a member of the Fourth Degree Assembly and serves in its Honor Guard. He is a mass server, has been a facilitator for both Why Catholic? and for Our Father's Plan classes. He also participates in the Wednesday Morning Bible Study Group. Ron is a member of the clean-up crew on Sacred Heart’s Disaster Response Team and a picture of him, Rolland White, and Don Richardson appeared in a June 27 article in the Arkansas Catholic about the work of Sacred Heart’s DRT in Mena.
Fran is a member of the Ladies of the Sacred Heart, a member of St. Monica's Guild, and serves on their committees. Her life ministry for the past thirty years, in addition to keeping track of Ron, has been to take Catholics to the Holy Land and other sacred Catholic places including Rome, Fatima, Lourdes, and Turkey.

Mac Good served our council during the past year as Family Director. As such it fell on him to head up this year's Family Picnic, which was held Monday, May 18th. It is said that behind every good man stands a good woman. In Mac's case, he has two behind him. Mac was aided in this effort by his daughter, Nicole, who did a bang-up job of directing the work crew setting up the Balboa Pavilion. For their efforts in making this year's picnic such a tremendous success, they are given the Family of the Month award.
