Mandy Davis Stephanie Bailey CHI St. Vincent
Mandy Davis Stephanie Bailey CHI St. Vincent

CHI St. Vincent has a new outreach program headed up by Mandy Davis and she was our speaker at the January 2nd 2024 Council meeting. We almost heard from Stephanie Bailey also of CHI St. Vincent, but unfortunately she had some family business to take care of and had to leave a bit early.

Mandy and Stephanie had two messages. As you can tell from the material above CHI St. Vincent is looking for Volunteers. Finding volunteers is Stephanie's job description. You would be surprised at the number of Parishioners - and Knights that are currently serving as volunteers.

Mandy is the new Director of Community Outreach for CHI St. Vincent. This made possible with a grant through Common Spirit. You can visit their website at www.commonspirit.org to get ore details, however their Mission Statement gives a good description of what services they provide.

Common Spirit Mission, Vision and Values:
We strive to build more resilient communities, advocate for those who are poor and vulnerable, and innovate how and where healing can happen—both inside our hospitals and out in our communities.

We are committed to a mission of serving all people, especially those who are vulnerable. As the nation's leading provider of Medicaid services, we work to ensure those in need have access to quality care.
Our range of community health programs, research programs, virtual care services, and home health programs address the root causes of poor health such as access to quality care, affordable housing, safe neighborhoods, and a healthy environment.

A check was presented to Julie Capps, COO of First Step in Hot Springs. First Steps helps mostly Children with Learning Disabilities, however they also have several programs that go all the way up to adults. First Step is a large organization serving 27 counties in Arkansas. The campus in Hot Springs includes several buildings including some that have house children. If you really want to get a good idea of where all of that Tootsie Roll, Fall Fest and donation money goes take a look at the First Step website {https://www.firststeparkansas.com/}. It will make you feel good about being a Knight.
Each year, from early March through mid-December, eight Silver Roses are stewarded by Knights of Columbus councils along routes from Canada to Mexico. Every stop the Silver Rose makes throughout the pilgrimage is a rosary-centered occasion for Knights, parishioners and community members to pray for respect for life, for the spiritual renewal of each nation, and for the advancement of the message of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

On
Thursday, November 9th the Knights of Columbus, Council 10208, sponsored the Silver Rose program to honor Our Lady of Guadalupe. The devotion is part of the KofC Silver Rose program and honors Our Lady as the patroness of the Americas and affirms the sanctity of all human life. Knights carry the Silver Rose from city to city, district to district, and council to council from Canada to the Basilica in Mexico City. The Silver Rose will arrive in Mexico City on the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The rose symbolizes one of the roses that fell from the cloak of Saint Juan Diego when he delivered the Virgin's message to his Bishop on December 12, 1531.
