2017 Charity Recipients

Brother Knights, charity is the sword, with prayer the shield of the Knights of Columbus. What we do is not of ourselves, or for ourselves, but turns our faith into action for the benefit of our brothers and sisters.  At the December Council Meeting, we celebrated actions turned into charity!

At this meeting $32,700 of funds raised by this Council were distributed to support faith-based initiatives. This includes our schools, hospitals, and very own community service organizations working within our area. 

Some of the $26,000 raised during our Campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities was presented; $7,100 will be withheld until the Arkansas Blind Camp and the Special Olympics events take place in the spring.

Revenue generated by the parish-wide efforts of our bi-annual Treasure Sale, augmented by Council 10208 monies were presented to our local parochial schools.  Other funds that were presented came from parish breakfasts, dinners, and other fund-raisers.  Well done Brothers, as we in our own small way try to mimic the love of Christ through these corporal works of Mercy!

The first check is for $4,000 presented to Karen Knight of Abilities Unlimited.  This Council was also pleased to provide some material left over from the Treasure Sale for this worthwhile charity.

A check for $5,000 was presented to Lynn Reeves of the Caring Place. The Caring Place is so unique and wonderful and we thank you for all that you and your organization do!

Then a check for $5,000 was presented to Brett Chancellor of First Step.  Our affiliation with First Step has been wonderful and tremendously rewarding in the past years.  We look forward to working with them in the future and seeing the labors of this organization continue to help those so needing your helping hands.

Over many years we’ve seen Good Sam’s assist so many of our parishioners as they move on into independent living apartments, avail themselves of assisted living, or become residents in the full care or therapy and recovery facilities of Good Sam’s here in the village.  We were honored to have Donna Hoffman, Marketing Director, and our very own Cindy Calhoun to accept a check for $1,000 to provide cognitive activities for the well being of their residents. Thank you so much for all you do!
 
Next, we were so pleased to present two school principals; Angela Isaacs of St. John’s in Hot Springs, and Jan Cash of Our Lady of Fatima in Benton - $8,000 each for their use at each school.  We know these monies will help meet the needs you both have with the many unfunded and important necessities at your schools.  God bless you both and thank you for your wonderful service to our youngsters.
